about TheLittlestGuy

This blog is my effort to return to the world more than it has given me - knowledge and therefore power.

Rarely do more than a few hours go by when I don’t think or talk about climate change and the world’s energy problems.

climate change and energy demand

We humans are damaging our only home and we must do something about it before there is nothing we can do. Climate change and global warming are changing the face of the planet. We live in a very delicate balance with mother nature and if we push her too far she’ll take away the good things with which she provides us.

We also face another very serious and related problem. As parts of the world rapidly develop to achieve what many of us take for granted, global energy needs are rising sharply. Much of our current energy use comes from fossil fuels like coal and petroleum, which are combusted to produce CO2 and energy. CO2 is one of many greenhouse gases which cause climate change. Not only is the amount of CO2 that humans produce bad for the planet, but some of our sources of fossil fuels, like crude oil, are becoming hard to find.

Where would all of our energy come from if we lost these sources of fuel? We don’t know exactly. And in the meantime, while these resources become harder and hard to find and extract, conflict is brewing. A full-out energy crisis will destroy economies world wide, lead to more violence, and could set our standard of living back to the dark ages. Some specialists believe it is already too late to prevent some of these consequences, but one thing is for certain: waiting to act will only bring more trouble. Before we can act, we must learn about the situation.

Whether our transition from non-renewable fossil fuels to renewable green fuels is relatively easy or tremendously painful is up to you and me: The Littlest Guy. The primary goal of this blog is education. No one person has the power to change all of this; Together we can face these issues, make the necessary sacrifices, and solve these problems. I don’t want my kids and my kid’s kids to blame us for destroying the planet.

Change is immanent. We either sit back and let nature determine our future or we can use our voices, actions, and money to control our own destiny.
